Weird skin irritation?

What can I do to make my skin feel better after irritation/allergic reaction to soap?

  • Like 4 or 5 days ago I took a shower using this Olay purple soap (that I have been using these past 2 weeks) and I noticed it made me feel SUPER dry and itchy and I got a small rash on the back of my hand but it went away. I really didn't think anything of it. My mom used that soap as well and it made her eyes bloodshot and her nose red and puffy but it went away. I washed my face with this soap and it made it puffy. It wasn't noticeable or severe, but it felt puffy, tight, and uncomfortable. It would burn for a little right after I washed it. I went through this twice until I realized it was the soap haha. Idk if this is irritation or if I'm allergic. I'm not getting hives or rashes or anything. After I stopped using the soap, my face puffiness is almost completely gone. My skin feels like how it did whenever I was healing from full body hives (but not to that extent). Several months ago I had full body hives from a first time allergic reaction to laundry detergent and the week after I got treated for it my skin kinda hurt and felt hot. The first couple days felt like a bad sunburn. They told me to soak in oatmeal but I was living without running water at the time so I couldn't. It took 1 1/2 weeks for my skin to go completely back to normal. What are some things I can do to soothe my skin? Right now I feel like I have a sunburn haha. Goddammit this sucks. I have been using my other body washes and lotions but it feels like my skin is still healing or whatever from that damn OLAY soap that its irritating it a little. Thanks for any helpful tips! :D

Aveano makes a great lotion for sensitive skin. It has oatmeal in it,which helps keep moisture in & stops the itchy ,burning feeling Try not to use any lotions with a scent to it.Whatever they use to make the scent can cause some people to feel like you described. Oatmeal bathes do work as long as you only use luke warm water My dermatologist told me years ago to never use soap on my face It dries the skin out and changes the way your body produces natural oils that keep your skin moist I use Aveano body wash, since it too has oatmeal in it.When I try other soaps or washes I have full body hives, then looks & feels like I have a severe sunburn You can use the oatmeal bath to make a thin paste to apply to your skin too Regular oatmeal doesn't dissolve well.Though my son has made a bowl of oatmeal..let it stand til it cooled off...mushed it up as much as he could, let it set, then put it on his face & arms..he waited 15 minutes then rinsed it off with warm water. He said it made his skin feel better. It was softer to the touch when I touched his face. Try not to use a washcloth or scrubby, since it will cause your skin to get irritated and soap makes it worse. Hot water damages the skin too.so don't take hot showers or bathes. Your skin is actually an organ..it takes 10 -14 days for it to heal when it's damaged badly.

I would call olay and tell them!! But take a benadryll, they will make you a little sleepy and buy hydrocordizone cream. I had dermatitis on my hands so I got a prescription for the cream but I talked to the pharmacist and they showed me where the over-the-counter cream for like 4 bucks. Just use a little at time, it will make skin really thin if you use to much. I went to rite aid bit wherever you go just ask. Oatmeal will still help. That's about it, hope that helps good Luck!
