Am I allergic to deodorant?

Am I allergic to deodorant?

  • Every time I use deodorant I get really itchy under my arms, and it gets red. I've tried several different brands and they all do the same thing. If I use antiperspirant I get no itching or redness. I would like to use deodorant because when I use antiperspirant it causes me to sweat a lot from my forehead, and it's very annoying while I'm working. I've also used a brand of both deodorant and antiperspirant in one. and I get no rash or itching, what gives? I can only assume I must be allergic to some ingredient in all deodorant sticks, and it must not be in antiperspirant. Am I stuck here? Are my only choices to use antiperspirant or nothing at all?

  • Answer:

If you found a combo one that works and doesn't give you a rash, stick to it! I'd look over the ingredients on all the sticks you've tried (you can prob get them online if you don't have them any longer), and look for a common ingredient in all the rash-causing ones, then see if it's absent in the one that causes no rash. If you find a suspect ingredient, remember that the higher it is on the list, the more likely it is to cause a reaction. The first ingredient is the most prevalent, the second is the second most prevalent, and so on.... You also should try looking for an organic-type deodorant, such as those deodorant crystal balls. Good luck buddy
