Can you develope lactose intolerance all of a sudden?

Can you develope lactose intolerance later in life?

  • Im 20 and have been able to enjoy milk and most other dairy products for as long as i can remember. But just in the last 6 months or so it has become almost impossible to have anything dairy. Today I ate one slice of cheese pizza and my stomach started hurting, almost burning. Could i really not tolerate the stuff?

  • Answer:

It is possible. Try eliminating all dairy from your diet for a couple of weeks and then reintroduce a small amount, and see if the symptoms return. Try one type of dairy at a time and see. Because you had the cheese on the pizza it may be something else that has caused the symptoms. If you get it with other foods as well go see a doctor as it may be something else that is causing the problems
