Delayed Honey Bee sting reaction?

I was stung by a honey bee on the index finger yesterday and quickly removed the stinger. No issues until this morning when I woke up with my finger very swollen all the way down the back of my hand. 1/2 my hand is puffy and tight. Over 12 hours before the reaction - what's the deal.
