What kind of allergy medication can I take while being diabetic?

I have high blood pressure and take metropolol and amlodipine. What kind of allergy medication can I take.?

  • Answer:

Loratidine. I'm enclosing a website that talks about first generation and newer generation allergy medicines. It says you should avoid first generation antihistamines and go with a newer generation medication such as loratidine. I didn't look at the list of first generation meds, but I'm assuming they mean don't take things such as Benadryl and Sudafed. If Loratidine (Claritin) is on the newer generation list, I would imagine Zyrtec would be there too. You can check out the list for yourself. The list is the first thing mentioned on the web page, the question about mixing the meds with hypertension meds is about the 8th "bold" question down. Good luck and take care of yourself!
