Why is my throat slightly constricted?

Why does my throat slightly hurt/sting when I eat certain foods?

  • For as long as I can remember, certain foods make my throat sting. It's not unbearable, but it is irritating, and it's caused me to refrain from eating these foods because of this. Some of the foods that irritate my throat are: -Orange juice in the bottle -- but ONLY from the bottle. I can eat oranges and drink homemade oragne juice perfectly fine. It's just the Tropicana brand stuff and the like that irritate my throat. -Milk Chocolate. Never dark chocolate or white chocolate, though. Just milk chocolate. -Green grapes. Never red or purple grapes, but just green grapes. -All-natural maple syrup. The Aunt Jemima brand (or "artificial," I guess you could call it) is fine though. -Peanut butter. But I love peanuts and they don't hurt my throat at all! Just the peanut butter stings my throat. -Certain brands of jarred tomato sauce. I think this might just be from the acid though, because homemade marinara sauce doesn't irritate my throat. All these foods, and some others that I didn't list, have the same effect on my throat -- it makes it slightly sting. I never get hives, or any other side effects. Amd I know that it's not heartburn/acid reflux because I've been tested for it and I know I don't have it. It's just irritates my thraot a little. Could it be a slight allergy? I'm just curious. Thanks :)

Aren't your just being picky that you think they stings in our throat. Well I can't blame you for that. Better ask an expert so that they would diagnose and suggest laboratory exam. It might also be an allergy.

I will think that it is food allergy. You should avoid those food that give you the discomfort.

Hello, Besides the other answers (see a healthcare provider to check for allergies), I can suggest an alternative to peanut butter that hopefully won't sting. It's SunButter, made from sunflower seeds in a totally nut-free facility. Since I blog for SunButter, I see lots of people safely, comfortably enjoy it on sandwiches and in recipes. See what you think.
