Why does my incense smell like smoke when I burn it?

How does Incense eliminate smoke?

  • I have lived in a dorm for a few years, and am highly allergic to cigarette smoke. Even though the rules state that there is to be no smoking in the dorms, people do anyway. Worst part about it, they get a way with it. One day, on the advice of a friend who smokes pot, I went out and bought some incense. This was technically against the rules as well but I figured they went going to enforce them anyway. Not only did the incense eliminate the smoke, but it also got rid of what ever the allergen was in the smoke. This is true for both Pot and Tobacco. I don't live in the dorms anymore but I do have a roommate that does smoke. And while he used to smoke out the window with the smell pouring back into the room, he now burns incense to eliminate the smell. I can be standing 2 feet from him and with the Incense burning, it has no effect on me. This leads to my question. How and why does Incense eliminate the smoke smell? Also if there are any scientific articles or sites that you can link, this would also be helpful. Thanks in advance

  • Answer:

I am glad the insense helps you, lucky for you. For me the only thing that helps is not being around smokers. I am also allergic to many fragrances. Lucky for you it is only smoke and not most odors.
