Can I take benadryl while taking a nasal decongestant w/ antihistamine?
-
I take benadryl every night for sleep, but Im trying to stop using my nasal spray so I want to take Cold & Allergy medicine that contains phenylephrine HCI 10 mg (nasal decongestant) and Chloreniramine maleate 4 mg (antihistamine). Question 1. Will the Phenylephrine keep me awake or will the Chloreniramine counter act that and help me sleep? Question 2. If I take the cold and allergy can i still take my benadryl but just not as much as I usually do. Thank you very much If you answer

Answer:
The Benadryl will make you sleep even with the phenylephrine. I've taken them togther. I used to use a whole bunch of allergy meds plus nasal spray. The spray dried out my nose too much, so I had to stop. Staying away from dairy products has helped.
