Why do my eyes tear for no reason?

How to stop my eyes from watering SO much?

  • I have a severe cold right now and for some reason that I don't understand my eyes are pouring! I usually can put up with being sick and going to school and stuff but I can't go anywhere right now because I don't trust my driving with blurry eyes? typing this is hard enough! Can anyone please tell me why my eyes are very teary and how I can make them tear a little less? It would be a huge favor! thanks so much for reading (:

Watering eye, also known as epiphora or tearing, is a condition in which there is an overflow of tears onto the face, often without a clear explanation. There is insufficient tear film drainage from the eye(s) - instead of all the tears draining through the nasolacrimal system, they overflow onto the face. Epiphora can develop at any age. It is, however, more common among babies aged under 12 months, and adults over the age of 60 years. The condition may present symptoms in just one or both eyes.
