When will there be a peanut allergy cure?

Ways to get over a severe nut/peanut allergy?

  • Im 17 and my allergist has told me that some people do actually grow out of a peanut/nut allergy, not all, but some. and apparently there are some treatments to like totally cure someone of this type of allergy? i dont really like the taste of nuts or peanut butter etc(believe me ive eaten them by accident and almost died a few times) but it would be so much easier to not always have to read labels, and skip desserts and foods and i think i could learn to like peanuts or cashews or almonds etc as a good snack.

  • Answer:

I also have tree nut allergies... but I've never considered getting it "treated" so I can't help you there. xD I also don't like the taste of them simply BECAUSE I'm allergic to them, so it may be the same for you. If you weren't allergic to them, I think you'd learn to like them - maybe even become addicted to them. (For the longest time, I avoided peanuts because I thought I would be allergic to them like I am tree nuts, but then I had one one day and I was perfectly fine! And from that day on, I ate peanuts pretty much... constantly. lol)

You wait and see if you grow out of it. If not, they give you shots every week for like.. 10 years, and it MAY get better.
