Is there a substitute for almond flour?

Alternative for wheat and almond flour?

  • I have just learned that I have Celiac disease. I am not able to have any wheat flours. I am also fatally allergic to all nuts products which means I cannot have the most common substitute for wheat: Almond flour. Other than rice flour, does anybody know of a good flour-substitute that I can use? I've seen flaxseed flour, but what are some other options? Thank you so much for your help!

  • Answer:

Soy flour might be a good option.

Look into quinoa or amaranth.

Quinoa flour Amaranth Flour Teff Flour Arrowroot flour Buckwheat flour(buckwheat is NOT wheat) Chickpea flour Millet Flour Potato Flour cornstarch for thickening Heres a good resource for all flours: http://www.wheat-free.org/wheat-free-flour.html Welcome to the celiac club! If you notice you feel better, but not 100%, try cutting out all casein (dairy) as well. Atleast for the next few months. Watch for other intolerances like soy which is a big offender in the celiac community, where we are very sensitive due to damage.
