Should I get a second opinion?extreme allergies,chest pain,breathing issues?

  • Should I get a second opinion?extreme allergies, chest pain, breathing issues? Ok here is the jist,I have allergies, which were under control because I lived in a smoke free, dust free environment, but 3 months ago I had to move in with my mom who smokes ugh!,surprise surprise,3 months later my allergies are extremely bad,and I developed something new I never had before, breathing difficulties and chest pain, pain and heaviness in the lungs, and extremely dry and irritated nasal passages.I kept having these attacks of not being able to get a satisfying breath, and feeling like my lungs would quit,i would wake up in the middle of the night with terrible chest pain right in the center of my chest between my boobs.I couldnt go out anywhere, even the cold air in the grocery store made me feel like I couldnt breathe and would pass out.I went to the doctor yesterday, they did an EKG which turned out fine,he listened to my chest and everything, then he wrote me a prescription for an inhaler with albuterol,i got scared and asked DO I HAVE ASTHMA,and he said not neccessarily, * 13 minutes ago * - 3 days left to answer. Additional Details 11 minutes ago he said it was probably bronchospasms brought on by my allergies, coupled with panic attacks,he gave me a prescription for zanax, and told me to take zyrtec along with that.I read the side effects on the inhaler, and it scared me from puffing on it,i never took an inhaler before and im not sure if it will make me sick or not.He didnt do any blood work, just poked my finger to test for diabetes, and that was it. Somehow I think I need more testing to rule out other problems?so I made an appointment with an allergist. 3 minutes ago just wanted to add,i dont have wheezing, and i only occassionally cough...

  • Answer:

Wow, i'm almost just like this. I'm allergic to dust, smoke, pollen, stuff like that. Which was very controlled, until we moved to this new place.. It was old. and very dusty, my coughing and redness in my eyes acted up. I had asthma when i was young, and had a inhaler. My allergies make me all stuffed up now, and i cough. I myself want a second opinion, and i think you should get one too. Just to be safe.

When you have allergy symptoms as severe as you do, you need to see an allergist. I recommend Dr. Spitzer in Bucks County, PA.
