What is the difference between being thick and being fat?

What is the difference between someone who is fat and thick?what is a stocky build? are fat people stocky?

  You've probably heard people saying they are big boned or something like that. It's a particular bug bear of mine. There are people who's bones have a larger cross-section than others. There are people who's bone structure is larger than others. And then there are a number of overweight people who fit into neither of these categories but use them as an excuse (it's not my fault...). There are ways you can check. One of the easiest is the width of the bone across the wist (the ankle is even better but harder to guage on the quiet).
