Is this a good split workout?

Question about 3-day split workout?

  • I have started a 3 day split. This is my workout: Tuesday - Chest & Back Thursday - Legs & Shoulders Saturday - Biceps & Triceps The thing is, I want to start doing chest twice a week as it is lagging a bit. What day should I add in another chest workout? I was thinking maybe Friday? Would this be the best choice?

  • Answer:

Not sure about your time constraints but why don't you do this. Tuesday- Chest & Triceps & Biceps Thursday - Legs & Shoulders Saturday - Back and Chest (Back first and maybe 1 or 2 chest exercises)

I do a similar workout but a different combination: Tuesday - Chest, Shoulders Back and abs. Thursday - Arms and abs. Friday - Legs and abs and swimming later in the pool. I find that doing the shoulders on the same day as the chest, since they are like sorta connected, works better. Always do abs because they get flabby real quick.

Friday sounds good.

Chest & Back on the same day is not good. If you do chest twice a week, then it will lag even more, as it will not have the time to recover properly. Don't listen to the kids advising you to do chest twice a week. You will not find a bodybuilder who does chest and back on the same day. And the only bodybuilders who do chest twice per week are on steroids so they can do it because it helps them recover faster. If your chest is lagging, then you need to do better and harder chest exercises.
