What are healthy weight loss tips that work?

Do you have any weight loss tips?

  • Hello All! A little background for you- I'm 23 years old, only 5'2 and weight 142lbs- i have gained 7 lbs since November of last year. I have been hitting the gym daily (7 days a week) for 1 year and 8mths now. I do a combination of many different exercises including cardio, weights, core training, I've even mixed in a little of other types of exercising that i have learned from others at the gym and yet here i am still gaining weight. I dont consume more than 2,000 calories a day, I do drink but its very rare, i have cut soda out of my life with the exception of one small drink every other day (i cant let it go completely, i get horrible headaches w/o the caffine) we cook most of our meals at home and occasionaly eat out. I guess what im looking for is some guidance. Do you have any weight loss tips for me? When i hit the gym i do a good hour of work, i start out slow but about 5 mins in i'm rocking it, i mean really... my problem areas are my lower stomach and hip area. My arms and legs are shaping up very nicely and everyone keeps telling me they think its the muscle i've gained but its not. I see myself everyday, what i'm gaining isnt muscle is fat, i can tell by the way certain clothes fit. also while i'm here, any stress relieving ideas would be helpful too. My job is extremly stressful, we wont go into why, but i'm wondering if that could also be a cause of my problems too? Agian any help is apperciated. if you have any links to share that will help too!!

Time to take it up a notch, caffeine can be used as a workout tool as well. Cut the soda and try to use coffee before a workout just make sure you are drinking a ton of water. Meditate while you stretch this will help with both stress and a better workout. Gaining weight is good for a man in the gym take pics instead they show the real truth. No weight loss tips because I don't think you need them.

First figure out what your daily caloric intake should be, exrx.net has a good calorie calculator. Adjust your calories down from the number you get there. 1 pound of fat equals 3500 calories, so if you want to lose 1 pound a week, then you need to burn 3500 calories a week. The composition of your diet does matter as well. Lean proteins, fruits(early in day), veggies, and whole grains(never after lunch) should be the staples of your diet. Drink lots of water every day. With cardio start doing intervals instead of long cardio sessions. The intervals will be more intense, and will burn more fat in less time. You should be lifting weights to build muscle on your frame. Don't be scared that you'll get bulky or heavy. Women cannot get big and muscular without steroids, so don't even worry. The added muscle on your frame will speed up your metabolism and make your body more efficient at fat burning. More muscle = less fat. Good luck to you.

Here's a tip: Don't lose weight and stop listening to the pathetic fashion industry. You're at an ideal weight.

Turn you head to the right then to the left. Repeat rapidly when offered food

Well its great your going to the gym, but if you are going to the gym, you might be gaining muscle mass, and the only way to check this is to check your waist measurement and ccompare it with you last checked. If its bigger, your gaining fat. If its the same, your gaining muscle. However I lost nearly a stone and im only 13 years old! I did it by cutting back on calories, I ate less than 1200 calories, had no snacks, and stuck to a gruelling workout of cardio for 1 hour everyday. But I managed it because I burnt more than I ate, and that is the secret. Also skipping breakfast helps sometimes, especially if you get up at 11:00 on weekends, there is no need for breakfast, because lunch is only 1 hour away. Its just un needed calories. Also make sure if you are snacking, eat fruit. You can have a ton and it will be under 100 calories! Also, remove any temptations, such as chocolate, cake, sweets, biscuits and fizzy drinks from your house, or give your girlfriend or flat mate a key to a cupboard full of junk food aha :) But the most important thing to do is only eat when your hungry, reduce your calorie intake, increase your exercise, and the amount of water you drink. Thats all the tips I have. Oh and get jet-lagged, worked a treat for me!

for your height, your ideal weight is at high, 121 lbs. since you say that you have been hitting the gym every day for a year, my guess would be that one of the reasons for the added weight would be due to muscle rather than fat, since you are using weights. when people are trying to lose weight, most often they will see a steady drop in pounds for about a month or so, and then this tapers off a bit. this is because as they exercise and burn excess fat, they also begin building muscle [even simple cardio will do this] which weighs more than fat does. you cannot tell for certain weather or not what you are gaining is indeed fat rather than muscle simply by how your clothing fits. you should make an appointment with your doctor to accurately have your BMI calculated. the abdomen and thighs are the most difficult areas to 'master', and depending on your genetic background, these areas may never grant you the look that you desire in its entirety. Keep a food journal for a couple of weeks. jot down EVERYTHING you put in your mouth, be it a piece of gum or a salad. After two weeks, review everything and see if their is a food group that needs to be modified. It is not necessarily about the amount of calories that you are consuming, but rather what foods the calories are coming from. Remember, you are your own worst critic and your biased on your own physical appearance, good or bad. Regardless, love who you are. that in itself is a fantastic tool for healthy weight loss. Be well.
