Braces help!!! please i need like a dentist or someone to answer this?

• okay so im getting braces in like a week. Im 16 and the dentist has told me that i need braces since i was in middle school. my parents never wanted to get me them because of the price. my teeth arent that bad but they are pretty messed up. anyway, i went to 2 dentists and one of them told me i really needed them this and that. the one thats giving me the braces cuz its cheaper lol said that if i dont get braces now its gona be too late. Is it true that if i decide to get braces when im 18 or older, their gona have to give me surgery? what happens if i decide to get them when im older? do braces hurt? please tell me all i need to know. thank you

  No, it is possible to straighten the teeth with braces at any age after the teeth have fully erupted. Otherwise, you would never see adults wearing braces! If you decided to wait till you're in your forties to get braces, it will take a bit longer to achieve the end results (bone heals more slowly as we age), though you could still effectively straighten your teeth. Braces can certainly be associated with pain because of friction between the metal hardware and the soft tissues of the mouth but it is minimal. If you need spacers, they often do hurt. Relax. You won't be doomed if you don't get braces now.
