  In the US the first thing is to take the DAT (dental Aptitude test) and have a minimum of 90 undergrad credits (college credits) Many school have some undergraduate course requirements like biology chemistry physics calculus, so you shold contact each school you areinterested in and see what are required undergrad courses. Once you meet those requirements you can apply to dental school. Once in dental school you will take a science exam after you second year of dental school you need to pass this test to get promoted, if succesful during you final year you will take another exam that deals with dental sciences which you must pass to graduate. Once you graduate you will need to take a regional exam (different for different states) and this is what the state will ask for to give you your license. As for salary this can vary, most dentist can easily make $150,000 a year. Other who venture off and start a clinic can make arounf $500,000 to a million. Other are more busines oriented and open several clinics and are making several millions. As for what the outlook is this will be hard to say since economics and politics are joined at the hips. Who gets elected tomorrow will play a role in the future out look, so at this point its too hard to predict where dentistry is headed.
