How do i become a Dental assistant in TX?

  • Im just graduated from highschool but currently taking remedial classes to get to college level and i am intersted in going into this career for now to get a little extra money and help my parents with some bills i know how much they generally make and around how much time it takes but what exactly do i have to do in order to do this? also are there any other careers that are in somewhat high demand and dont take very long like dental assistant that pay fairly well that are also in the medical field i would be interested in hearing and looking into that.. and finally if i become a dental assistant here in TX would they accept my degree in CA? thank you

    It depends on which state you reside in. States like New York requires no dental education to work as one, but most states do require at the least some education in radiology. However with everything else, your salary increases as your education level does also. If you are serious about dental assisting, you can take a course in "expanded function." Those courses may run anywhere between 6months to a year to complete. There are many desirable qualities (including education) as a dental assistant, but in my opinion, reliability is the most important one. There is a saying in dentistry, "a good assistant is the one that shows up for work consistently on time"
