Gum infection and now yeast infection? Which one do I treat? Please help!?

Antibiotics cause yeast infections and that is probably why you got it. Of course, if you are sexually active and there is a chance you have an STD like Chlamydia etc then this would have to be ruled out and you should go in to be checked out.. You should call your doctor and tell them that you took the antibiotics and now you have a yeast infection from it and to call you in a prescription, its usually Diflucan they give you, 1 day treatment. In the meantime, for symptomatic relief and to get it to go faster you need to drink lots of 100% cranberry juice, no nutrasweet etc. Or take cranberry tablets. Also eat lots of plain yogurt and it has to be plain not vanilla no nutrasweet it it. It tastes like crap but it kills yeast and is great. If this is not STD then you know that you are prone to get yeast infections with antibiotics so next time a doctor prescribes you them, ask for a prescripiton for yeast infection to save yourself some time, doctors do that all the time. I work in the medical field. Avoid sugar, it makes yeast multiply.

I would treat them both- how can you not?? You may need to see the doctor for something stronger than Monistat, though. Good luck!
