What is porcelain?

Just had a root canal yesterday and now porcelain is broke, what can I do?

• I just had my first root canal done yesterday and my dentist had just placed the porcelain over my tooth until i can get the money to crown it which probably wont be for a month or so, but today the porcelain broke in half and im holding the porcelain in with my tongue, otherwise it will fall out of my tooth completely. Because of the holiday weekend my dentist wont be back at the office for 5 day, or until Monday. Im kind of scared to eat or drink anything afraid that it will hurt, and I just dont know what to do. What can I do to prevent anything from going into the tooth or is there anything I can do to cap it until I can see my dentist? If I eat or drink anything, will it hurt? Is there any oher precautions I should take until I can see my dentist and is there anthing else I should be aware of?

  Chemist shops sell an emergency tooth repair kit which you can use to cover the tooth until you can get to the dentist. It shouldn't really hurt because the point of a root canal is to remove the nerve so that there is no more pain, the biggest risk is an infection because the sight of the work hasn't healed yet.
