Why did my canker sore get bigger?

Why Am I Getting Canker Sores And How Do I Get Rid Of Them For Good?

  • About the cankers: My canker sores are often quite bad (painful as if someone had dripped acid on my tongue). Usually I just get one canker sore, which usually appears around the front my tongue, but can also appear elsewhere (such as on the side in far back or on the top of my tongue). I rarely get multiple canker sores at the same time. Most of the cankers are usually a white spot on the tongue. Occasionally I get what is called a raspberry tongue, which is canker sores that appear to be like the seeds on a raspberry. My tongue is very sensitive. If I bite my tongue or burn it, it'll quickly turn into a canker sore and usually become quite bad. Details: I've had canker sores ever since I was very young. I used to only get them 1-2 times a year. Ever since New Years Eve (2010) which one just appeared suddenly on my tongue without warning. There was no forming process (which usually take s a day or two for my canker sores to form, it just appeared there which was very strange. Ever since then, all year I have been getting canker sores 2-3 times a month, and I only get healed for about a week. I have had plenty of bad ones so most of this year has been nothing but misery for me. I have eaten no different foods, so not sure why the canker sores come so much. Nothing else has changed. It seems that the healing gap (how long it gets better) is getting thiner and I fear that I may have a canker sore permanently. I have just got over a really bad canker sore, in 2 days tops, I have another one which started a couple days ago. I have have been to specialist and they can't seem to give me an answer. I tried medications (currently on Acidophilus and rinse called SteriSol. So far, they don't seem to be working. The only thing I can do which helps is take anti-canker stuff such as Anbesol, Orajel: Ultra and Kanka. The only downside to that is that they only numb it for a few minutes then I have to keep putting more on. I go through one tube of stuff a day. I've been doing that for years. The pain is paralyzing, it'll literally stop me in my tracks at times and I don't know what to do. The canker sores is slowly getting worse and worse. I often don't eat healthy. I eat a lot of process meats (wieners, Bologna etc). I've always been a big eater of that stuff. I drink a lot of skim milk, always have. I also drink a lot of bottled water. I used to drink a lot of juice (I often get thirsty always have). What helps my tongue is water, when I'm in the shower, my tongue doesn't bother me that much, so I often take long hot showers when my tongue is sore. Also, when I'm outside, it doesn't bother as much as when I'm inside, which seems to be weird. The water seems to help it the most, not drinking water, but being in water, like taking a shower (probably has something to do with the moister). Another thing, which may not mean anything but, I used to think that getting the canker sores which maybe caused by something in the house, but when I first started getting them, I lived in another house. I only moved once, which was about 15 years ago.

  • Answer:

No offense, but it could be your poor diet that's causing them. I used to get cankers ALL the time, and I used to eat horribly. Processed foods and sugar all the time. When I started eating healthier and cut out gluten and dairy, I practically never get canker sores anymore. Now, if you don't want to change your diet, I would strongly recommend taking a vitamin C supplement. This may help with the cankers.
