Is it normal for a 2001 Chevy astro awd to get only 500 kms to a full full tank and if not what might be the problem?

Answer:
You should get close to 600km per tank. -Replace the air filter every 20000km. -Check tire pressure -Have the fuel injectors cleaned -Is your check engine light on? if so have it diagnosed Could use a good tune up, fuel filter, Spark plugs, wires, etc... hope this helps
