Is it possible to be allergic to a retainer?

Is it possible to move teeth with your retainer?

  • I had my braces on for about two years and then got a permanent bottom and removable retainer on top. I only wear my retainer at night when I was supposed to wear it all day for six months. Is it possible that if I wear my retainer for a while my teeth will go back to they way they were since I got my braces off?

  • Answer:

retainers don't move your teeth, they keep them from moving.

It can move your teeth with retainer. Maybe your orthodontist have your retainer tight to make it completely close. I was told about retainer last month that the retainer do the rest of the work for your teeth such as close the space and have the teeth be in the new position. Brace help with the bite and other teeth that isn't straight. I have 6 gap on top and my orthodontist is getting me retainer later this month to close the gap on the top. A lot of retainer today help close gap and crowded teeth.
