What can cause tooth decay?

What can cause tooth pain with no sign of decay?

  • i have been experencing tooth pains for two weeks ; with no sign of decay. I went to my dentist for an x-ray, and no decay or fractures were found. He just said my tooth( the one causing pain) had grew a little out of place. It is worse at night, and in cool air. Can it also be some sort of nerve exposure?

  • Answer:

Well it might be sinus trouble. That's very common. Your sinuses encompass a large volume of your face, and teeth and gums can definitely hurt as a signal of bad sinuses. Do you have any congestion, sniffles, allergies, or sinus infection? That can make your teeth really sensitive. The fact that cool air makes it worse makes me think it's sensitivity, not a problem with teeth. The way I deal with mine is xylitol. I use a nasal spray containing xylitol, and a tooth/gums gel that contains xylitol. It really helps with the pain and cleans everything out. It prevents gum infection and tooth decay as well. It may be some sort of nerve exposure if your gums have receded over time, but you fix that by brushing gently, using a better toothpaste (I suggest Restore) and using xylitol products. I like Periactil (I buy it on Amazon) and Xlear (for my nose - I buy on www.vitacost.com). It will get better with time but be careful not to brush too hard. All of this has been witnessed to work, by myself and my dentist, so I speak with some reliability. Sure hope it helps!
