How can i get rid of my gingivitis?

  • My gum have been swelled up, a little and alot, on and of for like a year now. i have braces also, but just a few days ago my gums started swelling up bad. Like behind my teeth and in the front also on my top gums. my bottoms arent as swelled as the top. I would like to know how to stop it! I brush my gums and my teeth really good, my tounge too, i use mouth wash also!

    I used to have this problem when I was younger. You may just be brushing too hard. Also, I recommend not flossing for a few days until the swelling goes down a bit. Flossing will just make them become more swollen and bleed. You can also try the crest pro-health toothpaste for healthy gums. It really helps me.

With braces treatment, it becomes even more important to maintain good oral hygiene. Apart from brushing, tongue cleaning and using mouth wash, also do flossing to remove the deposits which are present interdentally. Brush twice a day at night before going to sleep and in the morning after breakfast. Take nutritious diet and to reduce gum swelling, you can also do warm saline rinses. Listerine. AWESOME stuff. Burns a bit but its great stuff. If its too intense for you, they make an gentler version. Also, you could take an anti inflammatory (ibuprofen) like Advil for the swelling but it won't take care of the problem, just the symptom.
