How painful are braces?

How much do adult braces cost in NY (General price estimate)? and What kind of braces for adults?

  • Hi I am going to get adult braces in a couple of months and was wondering how much I will be paying? (With and without insurance). Also, I wanted to know what kind of braces do you recommend for adults? I know there are braces that go behind your teeth and invisible braces called invisalign. However, I heard that invisalign is a lot more expensive and takes a longer time to get your teeth straightened. Out of the three types of braces (back / front / invisalign) which is the cheapest and fastest way to get your teeth straightened. I know front braces may not look aesthetically pleasing since I might look like a high school kid again lol but is it common for adults to get front braces?

  • Answer:

I have Invisalign braces. It can be more expensive than regular braces, but it could also end up costing you about the same. You should definitely call different offices to get quotes. The price usually ranged between $7,000 and $8,000 but I found an orthodontist who did them for $6,000 ... and everything comes from the same place so you can expect to have the exact same result even for a cheaper price. It's also wrong to assume that the treatment will last longer with Invisalign. In fact, it's usually faster. I also prefered Invisalign over "behind-the-teeth braces" because you can take them off when you eat, meaning that you can eat anything you want.
