How do I stop bleeding noses?

How to stop bleeding after wisdom teeth removal?

  • I got my wisdom teeth removed on Thursday, & a few things happened. There was pain, but it was bearable, & nothing bad has happened. I've barely eaten, but when I did, I ate yogurt, cold soup, ice cream, & oatmeal. I think the sprinkles that came inside the ice cream & the noodles from the soup irritated the stitches or something. Now, it is Sunday, the pain still hurts, my cheeks are still swollen, along with my gums. I stopped taking the medicine prescribed to me, cause it made me extremely nauseas & my dentist said to stop. Instead, I've been taking Advil. Randomly, about an hour ago, my mouth started bleeding. I put on gauze and teabags, and then it stopped. However, the bleeding started again just 2 minutes ago. It's bleeding quite a lot (not crazy, but more than expected). My mouth never bled until now. (other than the fact, my mouth was "oozing" blood, but this time it's legitimately bleeding). I know that I need to call my dentist asap, but in the meantime, how should I stop/control the bleeding?

  • Answer:

Try some sterile gauze, layer it so it's thick and you can bite down on it. The pressure should help stop the bleeding.
