How do they take braces off and does it hurt?

Do braces hurt and how long does it take to get them put on?!?!?!?

  • Well I'm getting braces soon, but I'm really nervous. Please answer these questions the best you can. Do they hurt when they get tightened? How much do they roughly cost in Australia? How do they acctually work? How long does it take to put them on? Is it hard to clean them at night an din the morning? How often do you change the colours? Please please help me!!!

  • Answer:

Braces hurt when tightend AFTER they are put on. Not while your sitting in the Dentist Chair having them put on the Braces. Take a Tyenol or Advil before to relieve some pain. I am in the US so I dont know how much they cost. Ask your Dentist. Yes, they work It takes about an Hour and a Half the first time. After that, adjusting them should take about 30 minutes. It isnt hard to clean them. You change the colors every month when you get them adjusted! Good Luck! You'll be fine. The pain goes away in a day or two. Make sure you have soft foods- Apple Sauce, Pudding, Ice Cream, Mashed Potatoes, Rice (Maybe) etc!

1. Yes they do hurt, but the pain lasts for like a day or two 2. I'm in the US so I cant help you there 3. They basically align your teeth periodically because if you do it all at once, it would hurt and be extremely painful and unpractical. Everytime your braces are tightened, your teeth move so thats why it hurts. 4. The most 20 mins i think. 5. Not really, as long as you dont eat anything your not supposed to; your doctor will tell you 6. You can change the colors each time you get them tightened. What only changes color is the rubbe rband colors on each teeth.

Well, they sometimes are sore when they're tightened, which makes it a bit hard to eat for a few days, but it's nothing terrible. I'm not sure how much they even cost my parents. xD From what I know, they shift your teeth into place and hold them there until they stay that way. It doesn't take that long. I think it took less than an hour for mine. Not really. Just takes a while. It takes like five minutes instead of just two. You should get what they call a proxy brush. It makes cleaning them easier. At my orthodontist, they let me choose a different color each time I get them tightened.

They will be sore for a little bit. I have no idea. They slowley move your teeth to the correct spot. About 15-30 min. Yes, it is you have to put effort into it. I get mine changed every 2 months, but some people go every 1 month. Hope this helps(:
