How can you get rid of gingivitis?

I have gingivitis i think, how do i get rid of it?

  • About a month ago i got an infection something the size of like a strawberry seed got into the gumline. After that like a few days later the gumline below one tooth on the bottom got swollen. It got so swollen that it covered half the tooth. Then eventually the swelling stopped but now there is still a red gumline and when i brush my teeth it bleeds sometimes so i think that's gingivitis. Besides brushing 2 times a day and using listerine 2 times a day and salt water and flossing is there any other way t get rid of it? Is there some product specifically that gets rid of gingivitis? (i went to my dentist today and he was useless he told me everything i already knew)

  • Answer:

It sounds like you are doing everthing right. If you go to your dentist and get cleanings 2x year, floss 1x day, and brush 2x-3x day your gums should be in pretty good shape. When you get your teeth cleaned the dental hygienist should tell you if you have gingivitis... ask them if you have any tarter below the gum that could be causing the swelling. Otherwise, are you taking any medications because sometimes meds can mess with your gums.
