How long does pericoronitis last?

Pericoronitis and wisdom teeth?

  • My gum on my right side where my wisdom tooth should be has been really sore. I felt on both sides and I have a tooth further back on the right side so I guess that means my wisdom tooth has came in there. Well now there are these two sores in that area (which are really painful and sting) and it's causing pain in my jaw as well. I don't have dental insurance and I only want to go to the dentist if I have to, my budget can't really finance dental care at the moment. Does it sound like Pericoronitis?

  • Answer:

Sounds more like an operculum, wait it out and take ibuprofen, it'll help ease the pain otherwise, you're gonna have to your wisdom teeth extracted. If you dont, it might evolve into pericoronitis and you don't want that. I suggest to wait a week while taking ibuprofen and if it gets worst, get ready to have them extracted. Btw, it's better to get them out now while you're young then when you're older because of the many complications it adds. gl
