Urgent:Can the way a dentist shapes a tooth make a crown stay on? Please help need answers by tomorrow?
-
Ok here's the deal, I have like the scariest situation ever on my hands. My crown came off and I lost it. I switched back to my old dentist after switching to a new one because I trust my old one more. That being said I went to my old dentist when the crown came off and he said that I have to go to the new one to have it redone becaus he was the one who did the prep. Whole long story coming the new dentist had redone the crown that my old dentist had on there when I switched, and switched the way he had I peeped or whatever the call it! Since then it has hurt and never felt the same as when the first crown was on, the best it felt is when the crown fell off and has been off. Getting to the question here, could the new guy have screwed up the prep that my old dentist had done and that be why it's hurting and not staying on cause of the shape of if. So tomorrow when I see the new one should I request that he call my old dentist and say to have him take it back to how they did it in the first place to start with? I'm really tempted just to leave it of completely if the old dentist won't do it( which my mom said he says he won't but I'm sure if I have the support of the other one saying he needs to he will) because I don't want the new one to do it and go trough the same problems all over again! It's making me sooooo scared of the dentist I never want to go again in my life! I feel like I'm being tossed around like a rag doll and I'm stuck up a creek without a paddle. Please give me answer my appointment is at 11:30am central time and I need them by then, if you have a really good one email me [email protected] and I will give you my number so you can text it to me. Thanks- sorry it's so long I ramble

Answer:
If your old dentist not doing then go back to new one who reprepared your crown.. Your crown might be came off due to less tooth strucure and crown may not have sufficient surface area to stick.. Btw which tooth upper or lower, front or back? and about hurting.. Crown might be pinching to the gums so ask your dentist to check and correct it.. It is not big deal to recement the crown..
