How do I stop bleeding noses?

How to stop bleeding in the mouth from wisdom teeth removal?

  • I got my 4 wisdom teeth removed on tuesday and this morning (friday)one side started bleeding a lot, not like a little bit of blood spotting but i was spitting out mouthfuls of blood. i went back to the dentist and he said all i could really do is hold the gauze in my mouth to stop the bleeding. Its 3 am right now and its been bleeding for about 2 hours the gauze isn't doing anything the pressure from it doesn't stop and hen i take it out after an hour or so of waiting it just takes any clotted blood that was covering the wound with it and it starts bleeding profusely again. is there anything else i could do to stop the bleeding its getting very annoying. thanks =/

You need to take a tea bag ( two in your case) and run them under warm water. Then bite down on them, for about a half hour. The tanic acid in the tea bag(s) helps to form a clot by contracting bleeding vessels.

Bleeding on day of wisdom tooth extraction is normal. You can apply pressure from gauze pack to stop the bleeding. If bleeding is more, then you can change the gauze pack after every 30 minutes. You can also bite on moist ice tea bags to stop the bleeding. Tea bags have tanic acid present which will cause vasoconstriction and will stop the bleeding. Take rest with head at slightly elevated position. If bleeding doesn't stop, then visit your dentist. get cotton swabs.

There isn't. Just put the gauze back there and put light pressure on it. You'll clot if you leave it alone.

Hello from Egypt, If you have a high blood pressure, that is the cause. If you have bleeding tendency, that is also a cause. If you dont have any of the above, then you just need to bite firmly on a chunk of cotton gauze for an hour, and sleep with it. If it persists upto 5 days, hit the emergency dentist and have him irrigate the wound with saline, place a haemostatin (blood vessel suffocator) dressing and you'll be good to go. I also suggest you tone down on the salty foods, rinse for 3 days with a half cup of warm water containing dissolved table salt, and spit. This should keep the wound disinfected and prevent a dry socket. Did he compress the gap with his finger when he pulled the teeth out?
