Im wondering what the tooth over my other tooth is called?

i went to my dentist today to get braces and he said that before i get braces i will have to remove the tooth over my right tooth on my gums. what is it called and will it hurt being removed? also they said something about my k9 tooth what will they do to it before i get my braces?

Sometimes the teeth are too crowded in the jaw or to big so they remove possibly two on top and two on the bottom so the results are perfect. It is a normal procedure. Good Luck!
