What Cause Special Fried Rice?

Does rice cause tooth decay?

  • So I was wondering... I know white flour and sugar can cause cavities. What about rice? Is it at the same level as white flour and sugar? Cause I know you can eat certain foods with little tooth decay (even if you never brush your teeth), but what happens if you eat rice and you never brush your teeth? You surely would get cavities right? Just curious because so many people all over the world eat rice as a staple.

  • Answer:

Rice is a carbohydrate, carbs get broken down by enzymes in the mouth and secreted by the pancreas into simple sugars to be absorbed into the body. These carbs (such as rice) broken down into sugar in the mouth can certainly cause cavities. And FYI, fruits cause tooth decay too, lots of sugar in fruits to fuel the acid producing bacteria that cause cavities.
