What causes the lump?

Does anyone know what are the causes of a small white lump at the back of the mouth, also what can you take to?

  • i have a couple of small white patches in my tonsil area, one feels like a small lump,i had three of them also on the other side of my mouth but they have since gone ,i am a smoker ,not a heavy smoker,i take a selenium tablet every morning for the past 3years,could that be the cause of my white patches, and what can i try to cure this as i know white patches should always be checked out

  • Answer:

If your throat is sore or red it may be strep throat. If it is not sore and you can actually remove the white bumps(they ususally smell horrible) you may have tonsilloliths also called tonsil stones. There is not a cure for these, but gargling does help dislodge them from the folds in the tonsils. Good luck.
