Are there any biodegradable elastics?

Brace elastics? Help please?

  • I just got my braces on three days ago and I already have my top and bottoms and elastics! The thing is that I forgot which tooth to put my elastics on, I currently have them on right now, but as I look at my teeth, there's a little hook and I'm questioning if thats where my bottom rubber bands are suppose to go because I have an over bite and my elastics seems way too in the front. There's like four different hooks, one with small balls and ones with actual hooks. I'm not sure which hook to put them on for now, it's Saturday right now and the office is closed until Monday. So which hook should I put it on? Keep in mind that I have a over bite.

  • Answer:

It's really difficult to answer this question. Logically speaking, if you do have an overbite, it probably makes more sense to place your elastics so that they're pulling your teeth back a bit. But like I said, it's difficult to answer this as I'm not your orthodontist. I would just keep them off for now and wait until it's Monday to ask. It shouldn't be too big of a deal, considering you only got your braces a few days ago.

better consult your dentist because at different stages of treatment the different hooks are used to grip the elastics, but most of the cases, the hook on the wire which is curved,is engaged with the elastics. BUT YOU SHOULD WAIT FOR YOUR DENTIST TO TELL YOU.
