How do you go about getting bonded?

My orthodontist doesn't address my concerns & bully's me into going with an option I don't want to go with.?

  • I have been having major issues with my orthodontist from the beginning. He is rude and won't address my concerns. He in a way bullyed me into signing a contract with him or else he would have charged me $700 for just the assessment and lab work. I hadn't signed any documents or anything saying he could go ahead with my treatment, but he supposedly made an invoice charging me for $700 cause he said I had verbally agreed to getting braces. I am a student and was afraid that it would ruin my credit so decided okay I might as well go with him as my orthodontist. I do make regular payments and everything. Now ever since that issue, my orthodontist is rude to me, doesn't listen to me or my concerns and makes me feel like an idiot for wanting anything different than what he says. I am getting invisaglign to straighten my teeth. Before the treatment started he showed me a graphic image of what my teeth would look like. I addressed my concerns about how I think there should be a gap in some spaces so I can get some of the teeth bonded which are very skinny, I later conformed this with my dentist and they seem to agree with concern by it being legit. His response was why I would want that even though he can close the gap, he did this in a very rude and condescending way. I addressed my concern over and over about it looking odd, he said it won't and made me feel stupid for making that suggestion. So I agreed with the treatment plan out of feeling stupid and also feeling scared of him keeping my money. I have already put about $2000 down. But I am still at unease about how the treatment is going and whenever I tell him about leaving the gap he keeps on saying we will see, and keeps pointing that I agreed to the treatment wihtout the gap. Even though the image said that results would vary, and me and my dentist can tell it wont look as good as I want and I still have time to change the treatment plan. However, my orthodontist continues to treat me without addressing my concern or taking initiative help me get the results I WANT. I talked to my dentist and she told me to wait until teeth are turned to see if they look fine. If they don't then mention it to him again before he just tightens them or puts them together. And if he still doesn't listen tell them, so he can at least consider changing the plan. I know i agreed to the treatment plan, but still I am afraid my orthodontist won't give me the results I want after me paying him a huge chunk of money, cause he is too stubborn to listen to what I want and doesn't want to address my concerns. I am wondering what actions I should take so he would listen to me and actually change my treatment plan according to what I want? Also, what actions to take if he doesn't listen to me? And if there is a place I can make a complaint about the way he is treating me?

  • Answer:

If you do not have a written contract, there is nothing he can do to make you continue to see him. Tell him that unless he refunds your money you will sue him in Small Claims Court and notify the ADA, the American Dental Assoc. You must speak up. It is your money and your teeth. He is not behaving in an ethical manner. Find another orthodontist.
