How long does it generally take to correct an overbite?

How long would it take for braces to get out if i have straight teeth BUT have an overbite and gap?

  • i have straight teeth but i have an overbite that like...well when i smile,my front set of teeth only show but then again,i also have a gap (its not that huge its like a little one).i really want to know if the process would take a long time since im going to get braces sooner.

I had the exact same problem when I got my braces on. I had a fairly large over bit and a little space between my front teeth. I thought the process would be quicker than most but turns out I had my braces on for two years. But mainly it depends on your teeth and how quickly they respond to the treatment. Also when the braces are first on and your dentist gives you an estimate on the time it is never correct. Mine told me 6 months and I had them on for 2 years,
