I Chipped My Molar, What Do I Do?

What to do with a chipped molar?

  • The back of my lower left molar is chipped. I had a root canal back in July. Now a part of the tooth broke off. It feels like a big hole and I'm not sure how much of the tooth is exposed. What do I have to worry about at present, and is it possible to get an off the shelf filling for the tooth?

  • Answer:

gonna have to go to a dentist. not really anything you could fix on your own. what will need to be done depends on how big and how bad the break is. The good news is that you already had the root removed so at least you won't have exposed nerves to deal with until you get it fixed. Not getting it fixed will risk infection and/or total loss of the tooth, so unless it is a very superficial chip, you will need to get it done. I had that exact thing happen to one of my molars (one of the cusps broke off). The dentist fixed it by basically putting in a filling. Unfortunately, my root is still alive so it was a bit painful.
