How to know if you have dry socket?

How do I know if I have a dry socket?

  • I had 3 of wisdom teeth cut out on Thursday and they were all stitched up. Now the bottom one on the left the stitches have already dissolved and now I have a huge hole. It doesn't hurt as much as people say it does with a dry socket, but why else would there be a huge hole, I was searching signs of a dry socket and it says ear pain and I have that too?! Just trying to figure out whats going on.. should I go back to the dentist?!

  • Answer:

believe me if it was a dry socket u would be crying in extreme pain

Dry socket is characterized by unbearable pain. You will have a hole there for quite a while as the gum heals from the inside out. Don't be surprised if little shards of tooth work their way thru your gums from time to time after an extraction. Good luck. But, if you are very concerned, check with your oral surgeon.

What you are describing sounds normal. Dry socket is very painful. Here are some sites to look up. Good luck and take care!
