Why are my two back teeth hurting are my braces causing this?
-
I've had my braces sense December and my last appointment was on valentines day and my last two teeth on both sides of my mouth(right side hurts worst then left)hurts badly and my orthodontist said i had a cavity so i started taking better care of my teeth and when i went to the dentist for a cleaning they said i had no cavities it was probably my teeth shifting but i dont think it is any ideas of whats causing it and how to get rid of the pain and problem???

Answer:
Assuming both your dentist and ortho are capable at what they do, I'd chalk it up to being caused by your braces. Especially since it is happening on both sides (I'm also assuming the pain is both sides on the top OR both sides on the bottom). Braces cause discomfort. No way around it. If it is constant for more than another weeks, call your ortho and question him. Ask him for an explanation--make him earn his money. Don't accept a quick brush-off answer. They are apt to do that, especially to a younger person. Ask him why he thought you had a cavity, and if he saw cavities on both \sides of your mouth.

I agree with the other responses. If there is a cavity developing there (I'm figuring this is where the bands are) you'd be wise to get it tended to asap, in my book. I didn't, and had some pretty enormous problems when the braces came off. If that's not it, it's probably soreness from the pressures on the teeth. One thing you can do, especially if you find that it increases after appointments with your ortho, try taking your over-the-counter pain stuff (Tylenol, Advil, Aspirin, whatever) before your appointment. It's easier to prevent pain than to play catch-up with it.
Well I took off my braces nearly a year ago, and I do remember having that problem (only once or twice though). It's absolutly possible that your teeth are shifting, or it might be your teeth growing. Honestly don't worry about it, because it happens to everyone, it's just normal when you have braces. Even if you don't! Just take a panadol or something to releive the pain, it will pass :)
