In the old days every two days and it worked fine. You should see the difference in a couple of weeks. If you do it daily it will damage your enamel.

Arm and Hammer has a toothpaste that has baking soda in it. There are different formulas and it has good things to help maintain the good part of the teeth.

I asked my dentist about using baking soda a few weeks ago he said professionally it was not something he could recommend due to lack of research and I should try a baking soda toothpaste or other whitening toothpastes and in his professional opinion it won't whiten my teeth but it will help make them shine. He also said that if I wanted to try this method that I should use it no more than once a week as it is an abrasive that can permanently damage the enamel of the teeth and that I should not use it as a substitute for brushing with fluoride toothpaste (you must brush with fluoride toothpaste after ANY whitening method to prevent tooth decay)
