How to design and organize a project?

Graphic Design - Final Major Project?

  • I Am clueless onto what to propose to create , i have only moved from art & design to graphic design recently so im at a disadvantage so far i have covered - book design, packaging design & a introduction into advertising. what could be a good project in graphics to propose towards creating within graphic design which can earn me a decent grade/pass to finish and pass the entire course

  • Answer:

Here's the thing. It doesn't matter about your grade. It doesn't matter if your teachers don't even like your work. It matters if you're satisfied with what you have. Employers are not going to be looking at your grade, they will be looking at your portfolio, resume/cover letter, and you. The question is, what do you like to do? I'm a junior, and like most of my classmates and friends, we're all not really sure what exactly we want and plan to do when out of school, and the teachers understand that. They told us to take a variety of courses, and intern at small graphic design firms, paid or non-paid. As for the projects, there's ALWAYS a process (I'm sure you know that). Brief with theme/concept, research, etc. etc. Now, from what you've described, I don't know exactly which course you're talking about. Is it a typography course? An image making course? But, if it has something to do with creating, it sounds like something that you have to make your own. For example, taking your own photographs, collage, etc. etc. But like I've stated before, there's not point if you're just doing things to pass your class. It's more about creating works with a clear concept/theme behind your work, and making sure your work clearly communicates that. It depends not only on the image, but the medium, typeface, colors, etc.
