Starting dance in the middle of the season?

I want to start dance soon, quite a while before I start high school in September, because their dance team is amazing, and I want to at least be able to get on the intermediate team. My problem is that I'll be starting in the middle of the season at the studio. I don't want to feel like I'm behind. My friends who dance say I'm actually not bad considering I haven't danced since I was 4, but I did gymnastics from ages 4-7. How can I catch up, and not feel awkward about joining in the middle of the season???

Truth is, every first dance class you go to will always be a little awkward. But being in dance you have to accept that somethings you do will are going to look awkward. A lot of kids join mid year so you won't be alone. Have fun!!
