Is tomato soup good for a cold?

Would half and half added to a tomato based vegetable soup be good?

  • I've made a soup with crushed tomatoes, water, chicken broth, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, celery, lentils, oregano, thyme, salt, and pepper. If I added some half and half would that make it creamy and taste a little more rich? Or would that just be gross...

That would be fine, in fact, probably very good, but a better choice would be to use heavy cream (and use a bit less than you would half & half, which is simply half cream, half milk.)

Oh, yes! That is the way you make cream of tomato soup, though in your case it sounds like cream of vegetable soup. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_soups#Cream

Mr. Grummp

it depends on if you want a creamy soup or a broth soup both would be delicious but i think i would eat it with just broth and then for the leftovers i would add the 1/2 & 1/2

Yeah. I wouldn't add too much though. Just a small splash. Mix it up well and taste test it.
