How does eBay bidding work?

How does ebay bidding work?

  • I bidded £36 for an item on ebay which still has time left yet the price says £14.50 if you click on it. Does that mean if I win I pay £14.50 or £36?

  • Answer:

Thats because your beating is beating the previous bid only. £36 is your proxy bid which is your top bid. You may see it the bidding take it nearer to your top bid or even beat it before the end

If the high bid (Yours) is L 14.50, and you don't get outbid, you will get it for L14.50 (Sorry, I can't make the GBP sign!)

If no one else bids, then you will win it at £14.50. Your bid only goes up if someone else bids against you. For example, if someone else bids £18.00, then your bid will increase to £18.50.

I haven't actually bidded on Ebay before but I do use it quite a lot, by the sounds of it, it sounds as if your offer didn't get accepted for some reason because if it did it would say £36.00! I would just put another bid in of 14.60 before time runs out as you may loose out to somebody else.# EDIT: Ooh well if it says your winning then I am sure it will be okay, listen to the other replies they are a lot better than mine! Just talking non sense I am haha!
