Can you get poliwhirl without kings rock?
-
I have pokemon white, and I was in challengers cave, finding myself a rare poliwhirl! I was happy to have caught it, I made to baby egg poliwags, then found out i had a poliwhirl with the ultra rare kings rock! so I could get a poliwrath, AND with the kings rock, an awesome politoad! so I made my poliwrath, I got ready for a politoad, I went on global trade, nobody was trading poliwhirl for poliwhirl, prabably because they were scared of getting ripped off. I decided to be the bigger man and put it up myself, in only ten minutes I got a poliwhirl. I traded for a poliwhirl with NO KINGS ROCK. great, i traded with a ******* greedy *******! I don't trust anyone anymore so can you give me any ideas on any other possible ways? or maybe an easy way to get poliwhrls or slowbros, to get a kings rock?

Answer:
First of all, never trust the GTS. It is possible to get a Politoed without a King's Rock, but it's rare. You've probably noticed that sometimes a little splashing spot will appear in the water. This means there's a rare Pokemon hiding in that spot. (It's the same thing as those shaking grass spots you see sometimes.) If you dip your fishing line in these spots, there's a 5% chance it will be a Politoed. It will be between Level 45 and Level 70, so be prepared. There's a little trick that makes this much easier: those splashing spots appear after you walk (or surf) around for a while. So buy a lot of repels, put a high level Pokemon first in your party (Repels only work on Pokemon lower level than the first one in your party.) and surf until you see one of those splashing spots. If you don't want to waste repels, you can run back and forth on the land next to the water until one appears. But remember, it will only be a Politoed 5% of the time, so you'll have to patient. Also note that Politoed will only appear in splashing spots on Route 6. You can find a Slowking the same way, but in the Abundant Shrine instead of Route 6. It's 5% for Slowking too. If this sounds too tedious, you can find a King's Rock on Route 13, or you can try to find a wild Pokemon that is holding one. Wild Poliwhirl, Poliwrath, Hariyama and Slowbro (not Slowpoke) all have a 5% chance of holding a King's Rock. The best way to hunt for items this way is to put a Pokemon with the Frisk ability at the front of your party. That way when you enter battle it will tell when it's holding a King's Rock. This is handy because it means you don't have to waste time catching them over and over to see if one is holding a King's Rock. Another trick is to put a Pokemon with the Compoundeyes ability at the front of your party. This ability increases the chances of you finding a Pokemon holding an item. You can even use the Compoundeyes trick and then switch to a Frisk Pokemon to see if it's holding one.
