Is Florida Institute of Technology a good university?

Compare University of Texas at dallas and Rochester Institute of Technology?

• I have been offered admission for MS in computer science in both UTD and RIT. I am from India and have very less Idea of ratings of these institutes. I have just been told that both of these are not bad. Please help me decide based on reputation of these institutes, the quality of education, job opportunities after my MS, living expenses in rochester and dallas, weather conditions and campus life. Note: I have also applied for NCSU,USC,NYU and georgia institute of technology. I have niether been admitted nor rejected by these institutes yet

  You have applied to some very good US schools. I have not attended any of them, so my comments are purely my own opinions based upon hearsay. Georgia Tech or RIT are likely to be rated the highest of the schools you listed. Both have excellent reputations nationally. Between UT Dallas and RIT there are some major difference in location. Texas is in the southern part of the US and has a much warmer climate (hot in summer and not too cold in the winter). RIT is in upstate New York and gets tons of snow in the winter - which lasts from November - March. The skies are very overcast in winter, but the spring, summer, and fall in upstate NY is beautiful (winter is beautiful also, but you need to like cold and snow). Upstate NY is economically depressed at the moment, but the upside to this is that you can find housing fairly inexpensively. Dallas on the other hand is a booming city, but it still has affordable housing.
