Is there a benefit to having a double major?

What is the benefit of double majoring?

  • or is it just a waste of time? does it affect your salaryy? can you get paid more for having a double major? or should i sayy 2 bachelor's degrees??

    It depends on which 2 you choose and whether they complement each other. Like a Comp Sci major PLUS an Engineering major might work together well or a CPA PLUS Business Mgmt... see? You would be equipped for either job which increases your chances of finding a job AND they work hand in hand so you may get a higher salary at a job that needs one or the other since you have both. I got a higher salary for the exact same job as a co worker and she was there 10 years already. The reason was I had a degree in that field and she didn't. So it isn't just a "piece of paper"

there is only a benefit if you are unsure of what you want to do with your life OR it can be beneficial if both majors are somehow related for instance, lets say you are a foreign relations major. it would also be a good idea to major in a specific foreign language or if you are a pre-med major (biology, pyhsics, chemistry, etc.) it is a good idea to also major in, or atleast minor in, some form of humanities or psychology. it makes for a more well-rounded individual it CAN be beneficial. but it also can be a waste of time. it really depends on what you want to do
