How can I convince my school to let me go to the library during study hall?

• The period before lunch at my school is when I have gym class. I'm having back surgery in two days so I can't do gym and the school thinks it's beneficial to let me have a study hall that period. However, for some reason my school finds the library a dangerous place. They act like it's the ghetto and forbid a lot of people from going there. (Even though it's great... it has a lot of computers, it's quiet and sunny, a lot of empty tables and chairs, and it's also chill with air conditioning.) I want to go to the library during that period but the school wants me to stay in the main office where the phones are ringing, it's crowded, the teachers are swearing and eating, it's hot and theirs no computer. Plus, being around all the teachers I dread seeing every day? Awkward. The school says they aren't sure if I can go to the library that period but they'll see. /: How can I convince them? (I also want to hang out with my friend in the library who has a study hall that period because we've been looking foward to it... but shh. I'll still get work done.)
